Spectr vs other systems
Can JobBoss handle curtain wall projects?
JobBoss can schedule work orders and track shop jobs. Curtain wall projects also need elevation phases, unique assemblies, crate contents, finishing vendors, and install progress. Those are the gaps shops fill with spreadsheets.
Key facts
- Work-order thinking assumes a job is a batch in the shop.
- A curtain wall “job” is a building with shifting site dates.
- Packing by elevation is a first-class problem, not a comment field.
- Spectr’s shipping lists update as products are scanned into crates.
How shops handle this
- Show them a unitized crate map
If the software shrugs, you have your answer. - Ask about service providers
Anodize and paint calendars are not optional on aluminum. - Follow cost after ship
If install labour is off-system, job cost is fiction. - Decide what “complete” means
Shop complete and contract complete are different dates.
Common questions
We have used JobBoss for years on other work.
Keep it for the repeatable division. Facade work may still need a purpose-built operational layer.
Is this a knock on JobBoss?
It is a scope mismatch. Different software wins different factories.
