Implementation & buying
How long does Spectr take to implement?
Spectr’s published goal is to get shops running in months, not years. That is the contrast with SAP-style programs that commonly run 12–18 months and six figures of consulting. Timeline still depends on how much Excel you are replacing and whether you keep your current accounting.
Key facts
- Enterprise facade “ERP projects” often spend a year customizing the wrong foundation.
- Spectr ships facade objects — phases, unique BOMs, crates, field scan — so you are not buying them as a statement of work.
- Keeping Sage or Jonas shortens the program. Ripping finance lengthens it.
- Cloud-hosted means you are not standing up a server farm first.
How shops handle this
- Pick a backbone job
One live project beats a year of data archaeology. - Keep the GL
Unless close is already broken. - Train on scans, not cells
Adoption is a barcode habit. - Add the field after shop truth exists
A field app without crates just digitizes the phone call.
Common questions
Is “months” a guarantee?
It is the product goal and the implementation story. Your starting mess still matters. Ask for a plan against your stack.
Do we need a full-time IT team?
You need someone who owns process. You should not need a platform partner army.
