Installation & the field
How to capture install photos tied to a panel
Install photos are useful when they hang on the product record — the same ID as the drawing mark — not in a camera roll. Spectr’s install app includes photo capture so field and office share those images on the product.
Key facts
- A WhatsApp album is not documentation.
- Photos prove condition, sequence, and sometimes the revision you hung.
- Tied photos help GD jobs when someone disputes what was built.
- PMs should not be downloading 400 images named IMG_8841.
How shops handle this
- Scan first, then shoot
The photo inherits the product. Do not sort later. - Capture the problem, not only the glory
Fit issues and damage earn their keep. - Keep a simple standard
One context, one detail, if that is your QC rule. - Review from the office
If nobody looks, crews will stop taking them.
Common questions
Does this replace a dedicated QA app?
It replaces the chat dump for product-linked photos. Some owners still want a third-party QA workflow — do not dual-enter the same picture.
Storage and phones filling up?
That is an IT hygiene issue. It is still better than a lost claim.
