Installation & the field
How to know which panels are installed vs staged
Installed versus staged is two statuses on the same product: on site but not hung, versus on the building. Spectr’s field scanning is how those statuses stay honest — the office should not have to infer them from photos in a chat.
Key facts
- Staged material looks like progress from the parking lot. It is not hung.
- Billing and scheduling need hung counts, not “it’s on site.”
- A crate can be staged on the wrong floor and still scan as on site.
- Spectr keeps field and office on one system so those states are shared.
How shops handle this
- Use distinct statuses
Do not overload “shipped” to mean everything after the dock. - Scan unload and scan hang
Two scans, two truths. - Map staging zones if the site is large
Podium vs level 12 is a location, not a vibe. - Report hung to the PM and the GC
Same number, one source.
Common questions
What about temporary install / mock-ups?
Give them a status or a phase. Do not count them as complete.
GD vs field-measure jobs?
Both need this split. GD also needs the revision you built to.
