How to track crates from shop to job site
Crate tracking is a chain of statuses: packed, loaded, in transit, on site, staged, emptied. Spectr tracks products in and out of the facility and gives the field a scan of crate contents so the handoff is visible on both sides.
Key facts
- “It left last Tuesday” is not tracking.
- Site staging locations matter as much as shop locations.
- A crate can be on site and still useless if it is the wrong elevation.
- The install app is how the office sees the crate after the dock.
How shops handle this
- Close and load by scan
Loaded is a status, not a hope. - Record the shipment
Truck and list together. - Scan on arrival if you can
Even a foreman scan beats a photo of a pile. - Scan when emptied
So you know the crate is done and whether anything was short.

Keep it. Your crate contents still belong in Spectr, not only in the carrier’s “3 pallets.”
What about third-party warehouses?
Treat them as locations. If you cannot scan there, you are back to phone calls.
