How to generate a packing list from fabricated panels

A packing list should be the contents of closed crates — products already fabricated and scanned in. Spectr updates crate contents as you scan, then generates packing documentation without manual assembly.

Key facts

  • A packing list typed from the BOM assumes everything that was cut will ship. It will not.
  • Shortages belong on the record before the driver leaves.
  • The field will believe the crate they open, not your email.
  • Proforma and packing docs can come from the same shipping list.

How shops handle this

  1. Only list what was scanned in
Do not “help” the list by adding marks you plan to pack later.
  2. Group by crate
A flat list of 400 marks is not usable on a dock.
  3. Generate the document from Spectr
    No copy-paste into Word at 6 p.m.
  4. Send the live view to the crew
A static PDF is a snapshot. The app can stay current.

Common questions

Customer wants their template?

Map fields if you must. Do not maintain contents in the template.

What about accessories in bags?

They still need a line on a container. “Box of misc” is how gaskets disappear.
