How to give installers a packing list on their phone

Installers should scan a crate barcode and see contents immediately — a virtual packing list on the phone. Spectr’s mobile app is described that way: field crews see shipping information from the site without waiting on the office.

Key facts

  • Paper lists blow away and go stale on the drive over.
  • Calling the shop to ask what’s in a crate is a process failure.
  • Contents are only as good as the shop’s inbound crate scans.
  • The same app can move status to installed and attach photos.

How shops handle this

  1. Pack by scan in the shop
Garbage in, garbage on the phone.
  2. Put the crate ID where a gloved hand can hit it
Side and lid, not only a packing slip in a pouch.
  3. Train unload as a scan, not a treasure hunt
Open after you know what you should find.
  4. Exception immediately
Short or damaged should hit the office while the truck is still there if possible.

Common questions

Can they work offline?

They need a plan for poor signal. The product intent is live connection to the office system.

Multiple crews, multiple phones?

Same records. Do not give each crew a private spreadsheet.
